Rattle Noise at Idle and Harshness

:{ My truck has started to make a real loud rattle noise. It is audible above the normal diesel clatter clatter. It is also very noisy anytime I am around 2000 RPMS. I have taken the turbo off, and it is bone stock, no chips . etc. It does not smoke abnormally, it idles a LITTLE rough, just a little... When I floor it it seems to get very loud in the upper revs. Could it be injectors, or what else?

If it starting to sound like a 12v it might be injectors.

If I remember and understand correctly, the pilot injection is going to turn off aroun 2000 rpm. This will give you the regular diesel sound instead of the quiet gasser sound. Oo.

It sounds almost as loud as a 24V at idle. .

Does it sound like the gears are rattling in the front of the gear case to you? I have seen 2 trucks that rattled bad, Mainly at idle. Both with less than 5000 miles on them that ended up being the camshaft gear and the injection pump gear causing the noise. Niether of the gears showed any visable signs of wear or defect but they just had a little to much backlash. Everyone always seems to want to point the finger at a bad injector being the cause of any odd noise. But I am here to tell you that the noise could be comming elsewhere. Just my $. 02
