For some time now, occasionally when towing 10k up a hill at around 2300 rpm, I get a rattle sound from the engine (injectors?). It sounds similar to a locust where it comes in and goes away, especially if you let off the throttle and bring it down below 2,000 rpm.
Truck has 155k, maybe 30k on Bosch rebuilt injectors. Any thoughts?
thanks,
Tom

Hey, mine too @ 2300, especially in 3rd, can't repeat it in towhaul at 2300...wierd. Engine has been getting noisy since Oct & most pronounced returning from FL this Spring.

Typical injector rattle on a stock injector. Makes you think something is wrong in the valve train. Something about the VCO nozzles and stock injectors that causes it.

Thank you all for the responses and confirmation. Good to know and I will relax a little. Not a fan of locusts....

You want to hear noise, buy a '98.5 to '02 24 valve! I owned a 2001.5 for 6 years. I used to like watching when I came up to a signal light and see a car on my right with their window down or on a cell phone. (before it was illegal to talk and drive) I would see how many SECONDS it took before the person would look over with a wrinkled up face while rolling their window up.

HAHA, got that right! :D

HA! My aunt n uncle ran a small biz, and had the Ford 6.0 blues- bad. I was trying hard to steer them to a Ram, but my uncle didn't know/ understand the CR engines and thought they sounded like ISBs, which he objected to! Once I set him straight by bringing mine to visit, they ran out and bought one!
