:(

So for the last couple weeks or more I have had this rattling under my truck.

When driving and hitting bumps the passenger can feel a rattling under there feet. I CANNOT find the source of this rattle and it suck because my buddy drives a Dura Puke and he is the one who felt it first.

The other rattle, more of a knock I have is up front somewhere and I got it after I put on my KORE front end. Was thinking that maybe my steering stabilizer was or went out. Can't hear it with the windows up but hitting small bumps with the windows down I can hear a fairly loud clank.

Driving me nuts, I have my buddy convinced that he is driving the inferior truck, to the point that he is a bit disapointed. He said he bought it to run 3-400K! Yeah right, anyhow its hard to defend the truck when I don't know what is rattling and clanking. Thanks for any help.

Russ, I once had this problem you describe (it was on a Jeep). Dealer checked everything, couldn't find anything. Then I remembered a front shock can do that... make a klunking noise whenever the suspension would drop, such as into a pothole. And you can't test for it (as far as I know) except by replacing the shock(s). I replaced the shock, and that was it.

Also, I just fixed a rattle/klunk on my truck... it was the step bar brace bracket rubbing on the floorboard... would only do it when going downhill and braking (we live on a dirt road that causes the above).

Good luck. Rattles/klunks drive me crazy.

Scott

Well I checked the exhaust, not that, then I double checked the shocks, not that either. I just put on the suspension so I will go back through everything and make sure that I tightened everything to spec. Thanks for the help so far guys.

I started a post on this a couple of weeks ago. I believe shocks are the only thing I havent tried yet. I ve had it at the dealer 3x and nothing(they are however slowly rebuilding my suspension) You've heard of trucks with character? These characters can talk! :-laf

check the lower shock mount again

Have someone shake the truck violently while you watch the lower shock mount. Those things need to be way tighter than you think to keep from clunking on some trucks ;)

I second tractor. . I looked over anything and everything and it turned out to be the lower shock mount bolt grounded maby about 1/8 inch off the threads and was causing it to clunk and rattle. People who rode in the passenger seat thought the front wheel was going to come off. I couldnt find the bolt anywhere so I just moved it to the back and put the back one on the front and its like new.

have you done anthing with the brakes lately? it could be your brake caliper rattling. that is what happend with i changed the brakes on my truck.

Haven't done anything to the brakes. I will recheck the shock mounts again. Want to get this taken care of.

Thanks for the help guys, lemme know if there is anything I should check. Russ

I had the same problem. It s the top passenger side shock. You need to tighten the shock bolts and it will go away.
