Has anyone experienced what sounds like a persistent slapping of the rear seatback against the back wall of the cab when running over washboard or potholed roads? (2006 Ram 2500 ST). There is very little clearance between the two surfaces, so whatever is making noise is not readily visible. Repeated searching and manipulation of the rear seat assembly has failed to indicate a reason. Truck is 2 weeks old, and has less than 500 mi.

It is probably the jack under the passenger front seat. When it first started it almost sounded like glasses banging together. Now I just need to figure out how to make it stop, because it is getting worse.

In my 03 it was the fold down floor, also. The one behind the driver's seat rattles when the front half of the floor is folder over the rear half, and the seat is folded up, against the back wall of the cab. I put an old washcloth between the two halves of the fold down floor -- so that the front half, when folded over the rear half, rests on the washcloth -- and that killed the rattle.

Thanks; I wish it were that simple: I have no fold-down floor, but it sure sounds like the kind of noise it would make. Seeing the dealer on Friday for that and another issue.

Does it make the same noise with the seat bottom flipped up? If so, what about using a bungee cord to temporarily wrap the seat back to the seat bottom? How about the headrests? Any portion of the seatbelt?

I know that the jack is under the front passenger seat, but (I did read the owner's manual but can't remember) where is the crank for the jack?

Rattles in any vehicle drive me nuts. Anything that I place in the cab (tow chain, tools, tiedowns, etc. . ) is carefully wrapped to avoid any rattles.

Good luck!

Did you check the child seat hook that is behind the back sit neither the head rest, that could be tapping on the glass?

The back seat..... look behind the back seat and see how it's "hooked" to the wall. I'm betting that the seat is jumping on the hook making that gawd awful banging noise. Mine does it as well... ... .
