Today,

I learned a lesson, we tried to install new Carbon Metallic Raybestos brakes (a brand which I have used in the past and work very well) on a set of new front replacement rotors for my truck.

The set of brakes had too much meat and the new rotors were much thicker then my existing trashed rotors, so when we tried to install the caliper with new brakes over the new rotor there was not enough room for clearance (about 1/4" more was needed).

I went into town and purchased a cheaper set of brakes and these meshed fine with the new front rotors.

Raybestos only for existing rotors!!!

Sometimes if you don't open the bleed screw when compressing the piston it is very difficult to compress all the way and can damage the master cylinder if forced.

Illflem,

Yes it was all the way open, I took your advice from a past post and opened the bleed valve.

The piston was completely retracted.
