Well,

I ordered my truck last week :) ... and now I'm shopping for accessories. My new truck was ordered with the RBQ radio which has the 6 CD changer under the back seat. The SIRUS accessory blurp in the MOPAR accessory catalog said something about not being able to install the SIRUS receiver if the 6 CD changer is currently installed. My question is... is this because the CD changer and the SIRUS receiver use the same mounting location (= easily fixed by me) or is this a deck unit input conflict (IE, the Cd unit and SIRUS use the same inputs . . = not easily fixed by me). Actually... . my plan is to move the 6 CD changer anyway and reposition it under the drivers seat for easy access.

So you got an indash 6 CD changer (RBQ) and a remote 6 disk CD changer for a total of 12 disk capacity? If you could stand to have a few less disks loaded (6) you could simply do without the external changer and replace it with the Sirus receiver. :)

The Mopar factoy radios only have one auxilary input. Its either for Sirus reciever or the CD changer. I opted for the Sirus reciever

and hardly ever use single in-unit CD player

I think that if your deck has a "mode" button, you should be able to put either unit into the input for that. if you don't have a mode button, there won't be a spot to plug anything in and you need to go with the pape thing or an FM modulator.

In a thread last year someone posted a link to a supplier of an input adapter for our radios. I'm not sure what word you would use to search for it. I believe it allowed for normal RCA inputs to be used by the Aux input. The Aux input would than be selected by the mode button (RBQ has a mode button)... . Perhaps the XM receiver your looking at has line level (RCA) outputs

Here is the link for the company that makes an input adapter.

Yogi, you should be able to pick up a cord at Radio Shack that has a 2. 5mm on one end and two RCAs on the other.

You should probably confirm with PIE What their adapter requires. I made an assumption that it uses RCA inputs.

It's because the use the same input on the radio.

However, that might not apply to all radios. I'll check at work tomorrow and see if I can find anything out.

When trying to figure out my Sirius radio last year in 03 laramie the local dodge boys tried to be helpful but didn't have

the knowledge necessary to install or

sell the proper components the first time.

My system needed a receiver and separate install template /antenna kit.

The antenna required a hole drilled in the roof approx. 12" from rear light. I had a local stereo place with a ton of experience

with Xm systems do the install. I paid $165

for the job to be figured out and installed

correctly. (well worth it!).

I have the single cd changer with steering

wheel controls.

D. C. please factory install !

with the xm can you use the steering wheel controls for anything other than the volume?

The RBQ radio is a 6 disk in dash changer with external changer capabilities. if you opt for the chager you need to purchase the sirius kit with fm modulator. what I plan to do is by the Sirius kit that plugs into the back and then either the PIE piece or Soundgate Piece that allows additional equipment to be installed through the same input and requires NO fm modulator. PIE makes a docking station that will allow up to 3 addition units input this way.

Guys... thanks!!! I must have missed something with the in-dash 6 CD player. I had thought it was a single dash unit and a remote 6 CD changer. But since that is not the case... then I have no problem... ... I'm glad you folks set me straight!!
