Hi guys; I'll be picking up my truck in a couple of weeks and wonder what your opinions are with extended warranties. I'm sure the dealer will be anxious to sell me one but it looks like we can get a 50% discount on line thru chrysler. What are your thoughts? Thanks, Brett

Just like insurance, you hope you never need it but are glad when you do have it. As a rule I do not purchase warranty on anything, but if you do get one make sure it is a Chrysler service contract, not one of the hundreds of aftermarket contracts out there.
Also keep in mind the trucks today are filled with lots of electronic goodies that are difficult for the DIY'er to diagnose.

Stay away from the aftermarket ones. They have lots of different ways to NOT pay your claim. Know people who had to pay themselves because it would be 3 weeks before the "rep" can come out and look at the vehicle and OK repairs, then they only use USED parts. If it takes 3 more weeks to find a used axle, that is not there problem. They loose money every time they fix something so they are not going to make it easy for you to make a claim. Most of them Start at around $5,000 and the price drops the more you say no.

I normally don't do the warranty. I did on the new 15 since I think i will keep it for a while. I bought a 7yr/100K bumper to bumper no deductible Chrysler warranty for $2,650.

I have never bought an extended warranty before, however; given the complexity of todays trucks we purchased the Chrysler extended warranty on both of our trucks. . Ended up with the 7yr plan with a $100 deductible and a 100% money back ($1,460) on the policy if I do not used it. We'll see if the manufacturer did their part....:)
