I've done some searching but find no info on the available options that the tech can change with a re-flash. Re: auto lock on exit, day running lights, fast idle, etc.

Is there a list posted somewhere? Link please? If not any info as to personal experience would be helpful, as it appears not all techs know all the possibilities they have at their disposal.

I am aware of the options documented in the owner's manual.

TIA

Thanks for the reply. I listed those options as examples. I have no clue what the available/useful options are and the local dealer has avoided completely answering my questions thus far.

Like you, I asked for a "menu" of options that can be enabled/disabled, but got some song and dance non-answer.

I asked about the fast idle option... they never heard of it. :(

This dealer has always offered excellent service, so I'm not sure what to think.

Yeah, I told them specifically what TSB I wanted for my '02, but they had that 1000 mile stare in their eyes. So I went through the "I'm an idiot" routine, and described the symtoms listed in the TSB. Kind of like leading a horse to water, they were happy to find a fix for my problems. I don't think they ever put two and two together.

Same here... kept referring me to a Fuel Mod Box (Bully Dog) Then I showed them the manual. Printed in Black and White.

:--) They didn't know it was in there...

After getting the blank stare, I whipped out the copy of the mileage reflash to my dealer and they said, "wow, where'd you get that?" I told them also to activate the high idle feature and they said they didn't know what it was. I told them to look it up and low and behold, 20 minutes later, the truck was done. Neat-O.

The high idle was what I was in for with the '02. They kept telling me it was done, but it wasn't working (zero degrees outside). I told them I wanted to see the guy do it. When the mechanic started working on it, I handed him my copy of the TSB. He gave it a cursory glance, and threw it on the seat. After going thru it, he said, "that's it, I'm done. " That's when I had to tell him to continue with the last five steps or so to 'activate' the change. He was floored. "Oh, I didn't do that part. " No **** Dick Tracy.

Actually none of those for the most part are REFLASH"s. There just a enable(turn on or off) A reflash is when a new program is downloaded into the computer from a computer. The Fuel mileage, white smoke is a REFLASH. The door locks and daytime running lights etc. is just a ENABLE or turn off etc.

Proper terminology/nominclature

Please pardon my ignorance. I am interested in knowing the options that can be enabled/disabled ie:auto locking, daytime lights, etc.

"Re-flash" was a mis-use. My apologies.

The buffoonery at some dealers is why I avoid them. It is my hope that this bill will lead directly to someone making an aftermarket affordable (<$1000) DRB-III so we can all do this reflash/reprogram/enable/disable routine ourselves.

Can they enable my door UNlocks? That would please me no end. :)

1- Enter truck, close all doors.

2- Put on your seat belt.

3- Put key in ignition.

4- Turn key on and off 4 times ending in the on position.

5- Press your door lock switch in the lock position.

You will hear a chime to confirm auto lock is disabled.

To enable follow the steps 1-4 above. Step 5 you will press your switch in the unlock position.

Cali-600: Thanks! But I already knew about that. I've probably tried it 10 times now. Whenever the mood strikes me I try it again knowing full well I did it right the last time but I do it again just in case. :-laf It simply will not work.

Automatic locking works.

The procedure to make the all the doors unlock with one press of the key fob also worked.

The procedure to turn off the seatbelt chime worked althought that one said "at least 3 times" and, in fact, it needs to be exactly 3 times. I always gave it one more for good measure and it didn't work. Somebody on this board clued me in.

But the procedure to make the doors automatically unlock does not work. I think it is because I have a 6-sp and the truck has to be in Park for the that to work. SO I WANT A REFLASH!!! :-laf :-laf

Not sure the year of your truck, fill in sig. (hint, hint)

It's in the owners manual, page 19 for door locks.

You will also see the code change if you look at your odometer when it chimes.

It's an 05. I notice my sig sometimes shows up and sometimes it doesn't. If I do a quick reply it always does. If I do the other kind of reply, it seems not to even if the "show your signature box" is checked.

Anyway, I have posted a thread on the subject of the auto unlock with 6-sp and another guy did too. It doesn't seem to work with 6-sp and my own theory is that the truck being in Park requirement for that to work is not accounted for in the 6-sp.

Anybody with a 6-sp that has auto unlock working, I'd love to hear about it.
