I got my analysis back today and I'm not happy. QUOTE: "The visc. is low and fuel dilution is present. This shows an internal fuel leak that is getting into the oil. Check the fuel system for the cause of the leak. Change oil and filter and resample in a short period... " WTF Any suggestions or comments deeply appricated.

TIA Jim

HMmmm - how's the truck seem to run? I would think the main source of fuel dilution would be incomplete combustion, allowing unburned fuel into the crankcase...

Gary, truck runs fine. I had no indication that anything was amiss. LSFarm mentioned the short lines that connect to the injs. I'll check them out tomorrow. Thanx for you're input

dezeldog,

I had a customer that had a 97 model truck who was using synthetic oil in his engine. He only had 7,000 miles on the oil and had it analyzed, The analysis came back stating it had 4% fuel in oil and the Viscosity had dropped to a 20 grade oil from a 40 grade oil. Analysis Lab told him to do the same thing. ("check Fuel injection system") After two times taking truck back to the dealer, they finaly agreed to sheck the injectors. This was after Cummins techs suggested they do! They discovered one injector that was not shutting off. It was always open! Changed the injector and everything went back to normal.
