Second Try - First Post

Have only had my 01 3500 for a couple weeks. Have learned much just by browsing this site, but would like to know where to go/what to read regarding the general operation of the diesel engine. I still don't understand a lot of what I am reading in this forum. Any suggestions with respect to books, magazines, etc?

Newbie, too

Hey, I'm a newbie, too and have been learning something new every day. I like and respect the folks on this board. They'll let me know when I'm wrong (and I'm wrong often;) ) but I'd much rather be stupid in pixels then stupid on the road. Thanks for asking that question, I'd searched Amazon, and found Zip. Nothing. Nada. Nil. You'd better believe I'm checking out these links as soon as I have time. (See members to pray for, mom's had a heart attack)

Don't overlook a local group of TDR as a resource, too. Back issues of TDR are also a good source. Your membership packet will include information on how to get back issues and lists some that contain the information you are looking for. The membership packet will arrive in the mail soon after you register.

The owner's manual for these trucks is a bit sparse on regular operation tips in useful form. I've seen some manuals that contain flow charts and decision trees and they were so easy to use it was scary.

I learned about Exhaust and Engine brakes on the Jacobs Brake page website. I also learned which is which and why. Very useful.

Welcome!

TNX to 24V-DSL, Illflem and Ladyjaine for the response. The "Howstuffworks" was a little more basic than I needed but the others I am still digesting.

I am still mildly questioning my decision to buy the DRW but the mileage, condition of the truck, access to the previous owner and the color (BLACK!) and other bells and whistles were factors that were important. I am anxious to get some snow in the Cascades to give this rig a test in adverse driving conditions. So far have not made a definate decision on whether my home away from home will be a 5'er or a TT.

I am also fortunate that I am in fairly close proximity to DTT in BC.
