When searching dealer inventory for 6speed ,some list as 6speed or 6speedHD. Wich is NV5600 and which is G56. Iam thinking 6speed HD is refering to G56. Also where is the axle ratio listed or where is it found on the truck.

6-speed HD (usually a $400 option) is the NV5600. The G56 is just "6 speed" and is listed as standard equipment.

Unless the 4. 10 axle ratio is listed as an option, the truck has the 3. 73.

Also, the NV5600 can come with either a 3. 73 or 4. 10 axle ratio, but a G56 only comes with 3. 73, so if the sticker mentions a 4. 10 axle then you know it's an NV5600.

If there's one you're interested in, you could also call the dealer and ask them to hop in the cab and tell you if reverse is left-and-down (G56) or up-and-right (NV5600).

Tim Whitehead Dodge

If anyone is interested, there are two NV5600 trucks at Tim Whitehead Dodge in Enterprise, AL. One is a 3500 DRW regular Cab 4X2 Flame Red SLT. The other is a 2500 QC 4X4 white ST. They also have a 3500 DRW QC 4X4 Deep Molten Red SLT with G56. 48REs on the lot include a 2500 QC 4X4 white SLT ThunderRoad and a 2500 QC 4X4 Black Laramie. Please PM me if you want more info.

Ditto to what everyone else said above.

Here is the G56 Shift Nob:

I may be wrong but I think that the $400 HD option is mandatory when you get the CTD with NV5600 before it was discontinued. If you got the 5. 7, I think you just got the regular NV5600. Again, I could be wrong on that but that's what my salesman explained it to mean to me.

Here is the window sticker to my 03/15/05 G56 build. As the guys mentioned above, the $400 HD option is nowhere to be found:

Hope this helps!

Actually the Hemi used the NV4500HD 5-speed manual in 2500s/3500s; that transmission was dropped as well at the end of the calendar year 2004. The NV5600 was an extra $400 because until the Cummins 600 was introduced, the NV4500HD was also the standard manual trans with the SO Cummins (235/250hp) - the NV5600 was a required option with the HO Cummins (245hp in 2nd gen, 305hp in 3rd gen).

The G56 is now used with both the Cummins and Hemi engines as standard.

So the $400 HD option would have been required in pre-G56 2005 CTD models then?

The $400 was only required when you got the HO engine, which required the NV5600. The SO engine came with the NV4500, which was discontinued with the CTD 600.
