Spare Axle Bearings for Travel Trailer?

S-10, towing 20 ft gooseneck!!

I have a 97 dodge 3500 5 speed with 4:10 rear. installed a 10 fuel plate and 3gsk.

I keep reading here people pulling 20k with no problems up hills. I just got done with the fuel plate and springs, and with trailer and load coming lb at 12k, pulled ok egts around 1200.

so is everyone pulling 20k no problem, maintaining speed up hills?

I have to get a small dozer 9k plus the trailer 6k and there are some big hills I have to go through. this should be no problem right???

It all depends on varying factors, how steep and long is the grade? What speed are you trying to maintain? What is the weather, temp etc? I pull most grades with no problems at the speed limit or above, gross combined about 23500. If the egts are getting a little hot you control them with the right foot, it is amazing how the slightest lift of your foot can reduce temps.

You results may vary.

If your still running stock 3" exhaust, that maybe the problem. Most of us with upgraded engines have upgraded the exhaust to 4" as well. It will really reduce EGTs.

I have the same truck, and my egt's don't get anywhere near that high unless my foot is in it hard pulling 10-15k. You need to make sure you have a 4" exhaust.

Looks like I will upgrade to the 4 inch exhuast. but from the replies pulling 15k up hills at 50mph should not be a problem. maybe my timing is off as well.

will have to order the tools and check it.

If the EGT gets to 1200 preturbo, time to shift down. Obviously it depends on how long this will have to be sustained. If the top of the hill is under the front bumper then you can back off the fuel and let it slow down a bit. But if ya got a pull comming up,, shift!!
