Ford 6.7L issue in RVNET

diesel emmisions

I can source locally (two hour drive), Donaldson oil filters.

Regular P558615 for $4. 82

Synthetic ELF7349 for $10. 85

Ill use on both my truck and my dads.

I probably wont go over 7,500--10,000 mile oil change intervals, and I sample oil yearly.

I use rotella 15w-45.

Does synthetic make sense at double the price? I don't think so, but id like a reality check.

It does for me on my signature truck, as I change it every 18-20K miles with a filter change at the half-way mark. If you have one of the later EGR/DPF engines, there is probably no advantage to it unless you need the added ease of cold starting.

it does not make any difference on the 96 but the 06 has a different problem with the in-cylinder egr the soot loading is so high you either need to run a fleetguard lf9028 or the donaldson filter along with a bypass filter. it is a total waste of money going synthetic especially on the 06 the cj4 oil is formulated to hold up to 7% carbon, this is the same for synthetic or dino ie same drain interval, the only way to increase life on the 06 is to keep the carbon down. you can remove most of the in-cylinder egr for about $3,000 this removes about 75% of the carbon, gains 6 mpg and lowers egt by 300* we drive quiet abet and for us payback is less than one year.

The Donaldson ELF-7349 is the best there is when it comes to filtering! It is rated at 98. 7% efficient @ 15 MICRON... ... ... ... ... ... . 50% efficient @ 7 MICRON as per ISO standard 4548-12.

Furthermore, if you can purchase one of these for $10. 85, you are getting GREAT deal! BTW, the Donaldson ELF-7349 and the Amsoil EAO-80 are one and the same filter. :)
