Really slow fuel gauge

On a normal fuel stop and I fill the tank the gauge moves as fast as a second hand on a clock ticking the seconds away. Yesterday I put in $20 about 8 gallons :{ The gauge would not move for about 4min. When it started to move it moved so slow that you swore it was not moving.

Is this normal? Was the 8 gallons not enough for the gauge to move fast? Does my gauge move to slow on a normal day???

On fillups mine also does the "second-hand speed" move. This TSB addresses the problem. I have never bothered to have the flash performed, since the slow fuel gauge is the only "problem" I have and I'm quite willing to live with it.

Thanks Ryan, I may call the dealer to see what the cost might be since I'm at 49,688 miles.

I've noticed this issue on my truck as well, and like Ryan I'm choosing to live with it. I'm concerned that the reflash cure might cause other new problems, such as a loss in fuel mileage which is currently quite good. Besides, my fuel gauge usually reads correctly after driving a few miles down the road.

Mine does the same thing. Not really a big deal to me. When filling up completely it moves to the full side very fast.

Its how it works

I learned from Transfer-Flow that the fuel gauge input to the instrument cluster is only looked at when the truck is running and then only very 3-5 minutes. That's why you don't see immediate response. Ken Irwin
