Has anyone experienced ABS and Brake light indicator lights coming on as well as the brake pedal slowly going to the floor? The master cylinder is good. This has happened before when towing a loaded 30ft. goose-neck, but I shut the motor off and it seemed to reset the lights as well as the whole brake system as I got no pedal drop. This time its not resetting?

Thanks

Been there done that... twice! If the master cylinder is known to be good yet the pedal falls away like a bad master cylinder, the anti-lock valve is bad. It is on the inside of the driver's side frame rail just over the spare tire.

I have never had any luck finding the valve aftermarket. Dodge wants $150-180. Kind of pricey, but cheap enough if it fixes the brakes! Let me know if you find one aftermarket and how much you pay.

After you install it, you will need to bleed it just like a wheel cylinder. Bleed it first and then the wheel cylinders to get all the air out. Also reset your anti-lock computer by disconnecting it a few minutes.

Hello,

My ABS yellow warning light and red brake light come on after starting up the engine then go out for about 5 seconds then come back on and continue to stay on. The brakes are excellent and I just had new brakes put on the rear.

Mine was doing the same thing. Could be your rear Wheel speed sensor.

Hello mstimac,

Thanks for the quick response. I will look at the "wheel speed sensor" right away. Do you recall where the sensor is located on the truck? Thanks again for the help.

Dick:)

Im not noticing any brake fade my pedal is low to the floor tho and I have new brakes all round... but my lights are on all the time and if I pump the brake pedal say 3 or 4 times the lights will go out , but then come back on 10 or 15 sec later... . obtw I also changed my sensor too didnt help..... Im about ready to just disconect the abs system all together been working on this for years... . tired of looking at the lights.....

low pedal

Any time the pedal is low, it is a good idea to check the rear brake adjustment. My 95 does not self adjust well while my 98 so far adjusts well on its own.
