On my 91. 5, the rear ABS sensor (the one on the top of the diff) was smashed off. The wire going to it was also mangled.
I got a new sensor and rear harness for it, installed the sensor, and tried to plug in the wire...
The top end of the harness for it (near the fuel tank) showed evidence of a previous short. The new harness would not plug in. I splices the new harnes directly into the wireing that it would normally plug into and the bloody ABS light still won't go out.
I'm guessing that the ABS computer might be NFG from the damage to the ABS sensor / shorting of the harness.
I'm wondering if you can put the ABS computer into diagnostic mode (assuming it isn't NFG) and then I could do 2 things:
- Reset the computer so the light goes off.
- Trouble shoot any other problems.
I need to get this thing inspected for insurance, so for now I have removed the bulbs from the dash (Brake and ABS).
