What's a 2wd CTD to do to get a grip on the track?

It appears my '06 has an open differential. How do I discern which rearend is in this truck? From reading thru the forums, it looks like it should be either a 10. 5" or 11. 5", but how do we know from the outside?

Is there a way to ID it from the VIN or some other number that can be found?

Are there other options besides installing a factory LSD, or, replacing the entire rearend assembly, or, waiting until "sometime in '07" when ARB releases the air locker for these trucks?

You can take your VIN# to the Dodge parts window and they can plug it into the computer and give you a build sheet for your truck. It will give you that info.

The 06 diesel has a 11. 5 aam in the rear. There is a sticker in the glove box that will say anti-spin differential if it came equipped. I work on differentials every day and I can tell the difference in the way a 10. 5 looks over a 11. 5. But to an untrained eye they look very similar in shape, the obvious is the 11. 5 is larger. As far as I know there are no options for lockers or conventional clutch style limited slip/posi differentials yet in the aftermarket. The anti-spin is a gear driven traction device. Not the best for straight line drag racing.

No sticker in my glove box, or under the hood for that matter. Which is odd, my '99 had both. Good to know it at least has the larger gear set. Guess I'll have to wait & see how proud ARB is of the air-locker when it gets released.

Thanks for the responses.
