Out of curiosity , I checked my sons rear axle, well it was dripping out the fill hole when I removed the plug, he had it done, got 12k on the fluid change.

He tows a 38’ toy hauler, and it’s also his work truck , and tows a box trailer daily . So it seems filling to the fill hole is no real concern , who ever changed it , it’s obvious they paid no attention to that fill level line.

I have ALWAYS filled to the hole on EVERY rig i have owned. Does that make it right? It does show me it won't hurt a darn thing.

Mine at 60k full to bottom hole. Towing 33-35k WestCoast.

That's what I will do on this truck, its what I have done on previous trucks. 4 quarts is what I used, and its right at the fill hole, not running out, but close.

I started this thread for some insight on that fill level line ,which is approx. without measuring about 3/4" below the bottom of the fill hole.
