I ended up buying a Yukon 11. 5AAM master overhaul kit and having it installed. The mechanic that did the job said that the pinion bearing/bearings were bad. He also said that it seemed like they forgot to set the preload on the pinion bearings at the factory? They were very loose. This ended up solving the problem I described above, now the trucks drive train runs quiet no matter what speed I am at or what the throttle input is.

Same problem since new, well new to me in '06. Only makes the noise when cold though, I've inspected everything and have just wrote it off as a Dodgeism. If/when whatever it is ever breaks I'll let you know. BTW, I'm on 30k+ and 6 years with the noise now.

Mine has had a coast whine since new... and it gets worse as the fluid ages. I'm pushing 270k...
