What is the difference between the 3. 73 and the 4. 1 axle ratio?

How can I tell which one I have?

There should be a tag on the diff cover that tells the ratio, or under the hood there may be a sticker that lists what ratio you have. 3. 73 means the driveline will turn 3. 73 turns to make the tires turn 1 reolution, and 4. 10 : 1 means 4. 1 drivline to 1. 0 tire revs. 4. 10's will give you a slight mechanical advantage as far as max tourque to the rear wheels at a given speed. The only real differance you will probably notice unless you have big tires is that it will run about 200RPM faster in each gear with the 4. 10's than the 3. 73.

Where to find the gear ratio.

On my 03 I have a sticker in the glove box that shows the gear ratio. It will also indicate your paint code primary an secondary color. I have also checked a co-workers truck one day,he not knowing his gear ratio an the sticker was also located in the glove box, his truck was a 2002 CTD.

I wish I had 3. 73 hard to believe this excellent ratio is not available from DC

especially going to larger diameter tires.
