Rear axle spacers

New to TDR, just got a new 05 2500, 4wd, 4dr, lwb, 48re, 610. Just was wondering if any body has takin the spacers out in between the springs and the axle? Looks to me if you did you might have to change shocks and maybe shorter U bolts. On this 2500 there is 3 little blocks there and thought about taking 1 or 2 out to make the truck sit level. Dad is going to get a 05 3500 drw to pull a 5th wheel and wanted to take the spacer blocks totaly out, the 3500 drw really sits unlevel



Had a 98 12v 3500 4x4, 99 3500 24v 3500 2wd, then had to move up to a semi truck to haul the stuff we did, now I had to get a new 05 and finally became a member of TDR (Don't know why I waited so long, LOTS of good stuff in here)

I took my spacers out and and put them on top of the axle, so I did not have to change the u bolts. Truck sits level now and much better the 5er towing.

I installed a 2" leveling kit to front of truck which lowered rear corners of p. u. since pivot point is rear axle and now with 5er hooked up it sits level and has proper space between 5er and bed rails

P. S. 2" level kit still leaves rear a bit taller than front when unloaded and then level when loaded plus truck looks good sittin up

I took my spacers out and and put them on top of the axle, so I did not have to change the u bolts.

i did the same... but getting my oem round head bolts out of spring pack was a real PITA... but once they were out and my new 1/2" bolts with nyloc nuts were in, back together they went [and there is space in the axle spring perch for a 3/4" hex head from a 1/2" bolt to fit]

one of the first things I did when the truck was new, was move the spacers to the top of the axel. Never had a problem with it.

Did mine yesterday. I moved the 3 spacer blocks to the top of the spring pack and reused all the bolts. A pair of vice-grips solved the round head problem. The truck is much closer to level.

i destroyed the teeth on a pair of brand name vice-grips and 1 or 2 pair of off brand locking plyers, plus i destroyed the teeth on 2 rigid 8" pipe wrenches... after that, die grinder with cut off wheel to slit the bolt threads and the nut to get the SOB's off... out of the 4, only one came out easy... if i would have had torches at home, i would have burned the bolts out. .



so if you are going to do this, be prepared... they may come out easy, and they may be stubborn like mine... be prepared for the worst and hopefully they will come out easier than mine did.
