Well, got 67,000 ( a whole 3,000 are mine) on the 98 and last weekend I noticed a little vibration and drone under power and cruising. Then Sunday night the left axle seal started leaking so I parked the truck. Pulled the rear diff apart tonite and the side bearings failed and the left one spun and ground up the housing. Looks like I'm shopping for a D70 next week.

Bummer dude,

Wayne

You might want to consider replacing it with a 80 instead of a 70.

Are the bearings out at the wheel or at the dif carrier? If it's at the wheel end, you might be able to get it repaired. One of mine had spun and left a ridge on the end of the axle. I polished the ridge off and replaced the bearings and it's been fine for almost 4 years.
