OK - I need some sage advice. I'm about to replace my original rear brake hose. This means removing the splice block held in by the axle vent hose fitting atop the axle. It won't budge with penetrating oil breaker bar and 6-point 9/16 or even 14 MM sockets, acting like the nut will round out. For those who've been there how did you do it?? Much fire (hard to heat it with the brake block in the way)?? Mongo vice-grips?? Or just say the h*ll with it since the only reason to remove the vent is to get the danged brake block out!! Stack the new on on the vent hose and tie the hard lines for the brakes in?? Any help appreciated!!

I snapped mine trying to get it off, luckily it left the shank part and I was finally able to get it out big grips, lots of pen oil and heat, pen oil etc etc and a whack on the grips with a hammer helped. Remember when something is rusted in place heat then pen oil will make the oil suck into the threads, then when you get the grips on whack with a hammer to move it to "tighten" then back to "loosen" and just work it both ways until it eventually spins out. New one from dealer was about 10 bucks I think - this was a few years back I remember the job well, but not how much the part was - minimal. Good luck

Thanks for the advice - a few years ago is when I shoulda done it - might not be siezed now. I was debating just stacking the new brake splice block on top the old and leave it there!. I will try once more with hot fire, cool pen oil and cold beer ;)
