I read up on a previous thread a little about changing the bearings on a 3500(thanks Joe Mc!)* but I'm still kinda corn-fused about the 2500s like I have. * Looking at the Chilton is a bit misleading, I think. * I need to know if I have to disassemble anything in the rear diff housing to replace my rear bearings and hub seals or can I get at everything at the hub. * Is there a write-up on this?* I'd like to tackle this tomorrow and see if it fixes my vibration. * If I could get a quick "Cliff's Notes" version (heck, even the long and boring version!) from someone who has changed their rear wheel bearings and axle seals, that would help alot!* I haven't done this before but it looks like I'll need:

2-9/16" thin wall rounded corner socket (Napa will be my first call, thanks BEnglish!)

Inner hub bearings

Outer hub bearings

Axle seal (one, I think, per side?)

BFH

If there isn't a writeup, I'll bring the ole' digital camera along and write it up as I complete it tomorrow... just wanted some help before I jump in to save a trip or two to the parts store!

Thanks guys!!

just pull the wheels off, brake caliper, axle shaft, and then the hub. I would reccomend if your bearing races look good i wouldn't change them out, sorry the only tool i forgot that doesn't come with the kit is a race removal tool i used a very long brass drift to get those out.

Well, couldn't find an inner bearing anywhere so as soon as I get one I'll do the replacement. Hard enough to find someone at a parts store that knows ANYTHING about what I'm doing! Any tips on how to get the bearing races out?

Bearings and races are usually matched sets, the races get ground to match the bearings. These are pretty well always changed together.
