Ordered new drums from NAPA for my W250,Spicer 70, 6200#, original drum Cast #97468G. Ordered NAPA #UBP6401593 described as "12 x 2 1/2" Single Rear Wheel 6200 lb. Rear Axel". These drums are flush [similiar to a car or 1/2 ton] where the axel hub and drum mate, as opposed to the original that has a 2" setback. I know this is all a bit confusing, but I hope someone knows exactly what I am talking about and can tell me what to order from NAPA- if they even carry the drums.

This brings me to the next question. I have read posts where members talk about removing their rear drums without pulling the axels. There is no way I can do this on my truck- 1992 3/4 ton. The axel hub that holds the bearings sits outside the brake drum and thus must be pulled with the drum attached.

This forum has been great . Would be interesting to find a way to compile a list of exact part numbers for replacement parts. Maybe a separate forum where we could record numbers and prices for parts after we know they fit.

Brake Drums

There should be only one listing for the brake drums for the first gen 250 series trucks. Mopar no loger offers a direct replacement part for our trucks. As you know our trucks have the brake drum on the inside of the hub, and the hub and drum are removed as an assembly. Second gen trucks have the conventional external type drums that are outside the hub and can be easily removed. Mopar has conversion parts available but at very steep price, was about $800cdn per side when I looked into it last year. This may be where the confusion in part numbers comes from. Two widths of brake shoes are available for our trucks, 2. 5" and 3", but both use the same drum, as far as I know only the wheel cylinder bore changes as well.

Hope this Helps, Neil:D

Brake drums

The correct brake drum from NAPA for my 1992 W250, Dana 70 is UBP6401417- cost $174. This is NAPA United Brake Drum.

Under NAPA listing for a 92 this number is for 12 x 3" dual rear wheel. The listing for a single rear wheel gives you a drum for the new gen. Dodge
