What you do guys do to the rear proportioning valve when you lift the back of the truck? Should I just extend the rod? Disconnect it??

I'd make the angle of the lever coming out of the valve then after the lift extend the rod to match. OK assuming you've already lifted the bed - check out someone else's that has a second gen w/drum brakes and only rear anti lock. If there's no one close to you I could take a picture and email to you???

I know stock my shock mounts were 22" from end to end... so I'll know how much lift. I was just wondering if that valve was important? If I leave it alone, will it brake more in the rear?

I run air bags so when towing I had limp rear brakes so I removed the rod and zip tied the lever up. With a full load of fuel my truck is about at it's GVWR of 8,800 so it works for me. If running empty it might not be advised to fully get rid of it as you might have your rear brakes lock up in slippery conditions.
