I noticed a vent hose hanging from the junction of brake lines and hose that is mounted on top of the driver's side rear axle. I must have caught it on a branch while in the deer woods. In the 2004 service manual, figure 8 on page 5-12 shows a good picture of the hose I am talking about. The hose still has the clip on the free end, but I do not know where to connect the clip on the frame/body to ensure it remains unobstructed. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

That hose is the vent for the axle tube. They usually clip to a frame brace. It shouldn't be hard to find where it was, just extend the hose and look for a mark on the brace.

Well I know the hose hadn't been hanging for long as the inside was clean and the clip was still intact and not scuffed up from the road. I think it was just pulled down as I was parking on the side of a logging road and I noticed the hose hanging after my hunt and before I drove off. So, I am not too worried about dirt or water, but I am near my change interval anyway.

I did check the frame and body looking for the attachment point, but found no point that looks like it's missing a clip. I did not drop the spare tire so I guess that will be my next step.

Thanks.

Since it still has the clip on it, and I take the the vent valve thingie is still there also, just look for a good high spot on the frame to hang it from, allow a bit for suspension movement.

I have had that same hose get loose a few times now and have gotten water in the rear end in the winter

I think some zip strips are in order. I'll make sure that sucker never comes loose again.

MMeier, are you talking about the vent valve mounted on the axle tube, or is there a valve that should be located at the end of the vent hose?

Usually there's a little white one-way vent valve on the end of the hose that attaches to the frame.

Thanks for checking. I am kind of worried about the valve at the end of the hose not being there. I guess I owe a visit to the dealer for a part number.

Thanks for the help guys.
