Not a good picture- and there's nothing like being there. Yep I noticed the PB strut didn't lok like it was sitting right early on, and now that you mention it, yes they are on backwards. Everything's gonna be alright with that puppy- just that you have to check the other side now!

Isn't the lead shoe supposed to the front? That's the one with the shorter lining. If so these were on backwards.

Good observation. I had actually studied your photo before I made my first post, yet I still missed the obvious. Now that I look at it again, I think that the link you said fell down may be installed backwards, as well. I think the link should be turned around and the light spring should be pushing against the primary (forward) shoe.

I agree. Just came to warm up and have a coffee. Studying the few pictures that I can find and they all have the spring forward on that link.

The main thing on the strut is the wide notch that fits the lever. Most have a wide and narrow slots at each end. IIRC the narrow will have the spring to keep a load so it won't jingle.

Got it.

Sure hope you're getting a new drum, Mike- methinks the old one might be somewhat tough to balance with that big chunk missing! :-laf

Looking good. The only possible thing ,and I can't see in the pic, is if the adjuster is in flipped or not. I find myself doing this. Make sure the cup end and not the threaded end is under the adjuster arm. This is so as the adjuster expands, that half will stay under the arm. If it's flipped, the star can jack away from under the arm or pawl or lever etc.

Is that the left side? I think I see the fuel tank. If so, why is the brake cable attached to the rear of the backing plate? Should it be on the front? Is that a right hand backing plate?

Can't see it in the.picture but the star wheel is to the right.

Backing plate is the same on both sides. Probably saved a couple of bucks doing that.
