I'll try it

Thanks Matt, Tomorrow I'll try to adjust the brakes like you said and I'll post the results, I sure wish I had 4 wheel disc brakes.

Thanks again,

Cory

Thanks

Thanks Loren, so thats why the brakes grab so much in the morning, darn near wish they would stay rusty, at least they would do something. By the way, where the heck is Rising Sun? I live in Otterbein which is about 10 miles west of Lafayette if that means anything to you.

I am tired of the rear brakes not doing their job so I am switching over to disks. The total cost oem is approx. $1231 dollars. I managed to get a 15% discount so the parts before tax are only :( $1047. Not a cheap fix but having better brakes is money well spent in my opinion. I just wish Brembo had a complete set of brakes for our trucks.

RAMIFIED,

In all honesty you never really gave the drum brakes a fair shot. The addition of two oversized wheel cylinders (35ea), kevlar ss rear line (50) and a set of EGR carbon/kevlar shoes (180) will compleatly take care of your rear braking problem. And at a price that is just a little over 300 bucks, it is very ecconomical. From a engineering stand point, the drum brake set-up is far better then the disk brake set-up. The 3500 series trucks use 13. 5" x 2" shoes, that is a tremendous amount on friction area, and once the right wheel cylinders are employed, their true potential will be realized.

adjusted them

I adjusted my brakes today did around 20 clicks on each one of them, it has helped a little I noticed the drums got slightly warm, but I sure don't have to push the parking brake near as far. How often do you guys have to adjust yours?

I need to do my rears this weekend. Do these oversize 3500 series cylinders bolt right up like the ones for the 2500s do???

Also, will say NAPA shoes for the rears combined with the oversized cylinders do just fine? Haven't had the time to research the EGR shoes... ... ... .

Thanks,

RR

I guess I could have gone the larger cylinder route but I just wanted to do away with brake adjustments. Changing pads are a lot easier with disks as well. I will let you all know if I think the disk swap was worth it.

I have a D70 rear(2500 model), will the 3500 wheel cylinders work on this axle? I know some 2500s have the d80 so I can see how the parts would swap, but I would like to know if they can be swapped between the different axles.

What is the application for the 1 1/8" wheel cylinders?

I have read somewhere that late 70 chevy 1 ton truck. but I cannot find it to verify.
