yeah... the truck I saw yesterday I was not sure if it was the AMP or RAM step... but I have the plastic on the bottom of the painted rear bumper, so I wanted to know if they would both fit... Just didnt want to order the thing and have to send it back.

Amp also makes a side step that mounts behind the cab. The product name is BedStep 2 and is available for Ram trucks through 2021, although they only fit the SRW trucks.
I have both AMP steps on my 2008 truck. I needed the side mounted step to access my 5ER TrailAir pin box so, as to allow me to inflate the air bag on the pin box. The step also makes it easier to access items in the front of the bed for me. See attached pic.

The step is in the closed position and tuck up under the bed. It is difficult to see. but the step is behind the chrome side steps into the cab.

I did the same thing by having mopar SS wheel to wheel steps. So I can access the front bed corners and my 5th wheel latch and safety pin.

I use the rear step all the time.

I have a cap on my truck. Won't be without one. Personal choice.

I gotta wonder how well the rear, bumper-mount step would work on a truck with a cap on it. I wonder if, when you opened the hatch on the cap, if you wouldn't hit your head on it when you tried to use the bumper-step? Or if the cap, in general, would be in the way too much?

I have to carry a kitchen step ladder in my bed. Way too old to be jumping up onto the tailgate to crawl into the bed to get what inevitably slides to the front of the truck.

Anybody?

I used to use a step ladder next to (on the side of) the tailgate which I assume to be a similar situation w/o trouble when I had the cap on my 04 but I don't know how far that step sticks out. I do not plan to carry a ladder in the new truck, so I will be buying them also. I have had my truck 3 weeks and broke the plastic tailgate cap trying to climb down so I'm done with that. I wonder if they'll replace it,.. its a crappy design with a half inch of plastic hanging off the end waiting to catch something (as it did me) and snap.

Amp is offering a $40. mail in rebate on the Rear and the Side step till the end of Jan. I just popped for both

I was just on their webpage and did not see it, Did you order through AMP or another Vendor? Geno's is showing the rear step as backordered on their site.

Use a long 7' pole with a hook of some kind on it to slide things to the back. Act like you are adjusting the auto adjusters on drum brakes by slamming brakes in reverse. or turn up the power. My '18 has knocked passenger hats off into the back seat...

I use an adjustable length gaff one of my fishing buddy’s gave me ;)
Works great!

Make sure you order the right one, the 1500 and 2500/3500 have different P/N and the 19/20 trucks are also a different P/N.

Thanks for the link!

Boat Pole. I think I might have one around here somewhere --

On my 2014 I had a small foldable step ladder that mounted to the inside of the tailgate. When tailgate was down you just flipped it and you could easy get up and down. I had bought it from my Ram Dealer, but not sure if it was aftermarket or Mopar....
