When is a good time. / mileage to change my rear diff fluid? What is the best to replace it with?? 22,500 miles as of now. Thanks for your input

Now would be a good time. I changed mine at 30,000 kms. Use a GL-5 rated 75W90 synthetic. You can get it at the dealer or texaco makes some.

Can you use just any old 75w90 synthetic?. It does seem rediculous to have to go to the dealer to buy your oil!. And if you do use anything other than the Mopar brand will they give you a bad time for any war claim?.

You can use any 75W90 full synthetic GL-5 rated. It says that in my manual (I think). Mobil 1 is what I used. Gasket is reusable, easy as pie.

Scottmcd, the typical drain interval is every 15k miles. As posted above, it's preferable that you use a synthetic 75w90 with a GL-5 designation. I used Amsoil series 2000 the first run but it seemed to chatter occasionally going around corners, not to mention stinking the garage up to the point of gagging. I switched to Mobil 1, which is very commonly available, and have no chatter anymore. As a somewhat irrelevant side note, it doesn't stink either. Be sure to fully remove the diff cover and clean it and the magnetic plug well. I doused mine with some grease lightning cleaner and a few paper towels did the trick. . it was sparkly. The reuseable gasket is great.

As others have indicated, any GL-5 rated 75W90 synthetic should be fine and shouldn't cause warranty concerns. And yes the reuseable gasket is great! :)
