last night at a sled pull my rear diff center housing flipped straight up, the axle tubes are straight along with my traction bars, and obviously destroyed my rear driveline, that is the first one i seen do that, not sure what my new engine is puting out, but it sure is a violent one... anyone else have this happen:cool:

It happens a lot with Ford 8. 8 axles when we swap them into Jeeps. Ill you did was spin the housing. Some shops can rotate it back, weld and truss it. A better solution is to get a new housing and all the other interals should be fine. Just truss the center section to the tubes and it will not happen again. You will probably blow the gears or brake a shaft as you will have moved to the next weakest point.

i am trying to move it back into place now, but it is a slow moving process, after a few hours i have moved it about an inch

finally got it pulled back straight, now i just have to weld it up, 3-1. 5 ton come alongs and a ford ranger did the trick

I would talk to a driveline shop. You will want the pinion shaft at a certain degree. We are building a 55' IH truck into a streed rod for a customer and was told by the shop that built the 9" axle to put the pinion at 3 degrees down from centerline. If this is not at the correct angle, I am thinking you will get some vibration.

It happens a lot with GM 14bolt axles is you only attach the traction bar to the axle tube. To prevent this from happening again, you'll have to have a truss over the diff housing with the traction bars attached to it. Welding the steel tubes to the cast housing is not gonna hold up to tractor pulling.
