My son came home saying the old truck is making a funny noise in the rear. I took it for a spin and sure enough, it sounds like the thing is skipping a tooth once in a while. It may be the clutches in the limited slip, I thought I heard it last Saturday while trucking a gooseneck on an uphill corner. Where is a good place, preferably in the northeast to get a new or rebuilt 4. 10 limited slip for a W 350. I may just have to have mine done but the downtime will not be fun. Thanks

Are you referring to the spider gears? You can get them in a kit, along with the clutches for fairly resaonable. But, it sounds like you are a wee bit past that point. So, my advice is, look up the Dana 70 thread started by 1stGen4ever recently, find a copy of the FSM, and read up on it. Cant help you on a shop. I'd give it a go if I were closer. :-laf :D

Popping around corners is probably your axle shaft splines slipping/ skipping through the severely worn side gears. Mom's did that, and after new gears, it hasnt done it in 80K.

One more thing- Go for only genuine Spicer/ Dana parts. With the "excessive" torque the Super B is capable of, you need the strongest gears you can get; dont need some third rate foreign cr@p in there.
