My sons 92, W250, 5 spd. with LSD/antilock and 130k miles has a problem.
I trashed the diff. (it was my truck originally) pulling a 14k lb. 5th ehl. 70,00 miles. I had it replaced ($1700) before he got it. Lasted a month and started making loud noises. Took it back, they replaced it again. Said it was their fault. Now after 20k miles it is making noises when turning in either direction. Had fluid replaced and added 3 tubes of LSD fluid. Helped for awhile but noise is back again. It works fine, justs makes those strange, unnerving sounds.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

If it makes you feel any better, my 93 does the same thing and has for the past year or two. Really can feel the thing "ratchet" when going slow and making a turn such as in a parking lot. Am thinking of having the rear end rebuilt but will wait a while longer to see what happens.

Do you know if they replaced the limited slip setup when the thing was rebuilt? If so, what kind did they reinstall?

Thanks for the comeback. I do not know the brand but it was replaced with another limited slip "pumpkin" by a local reputable shop.
As I said before, it works just fine and has for 15k miles. Just a real pain in the a-- to listen to all the time.
I should have listened to the old man in the repair shop when he said, "don't sell your old truck to your son, it will come back to haunt you". He was right. Unfortunately he has since died and will never know he was right.
