I know the rear door speakers are 5 1/4" with a depth of 3 1/2". What is the maximum that will fit without alot of hassle? I am looking at a pair of 6 1/2" not sure on the depth yet. This is the only size I can find from Cerwin Vega in a component system that I want. Fronts are 6X9 and 5 1/4" depth, not too worried about that I can find that size all day.

have u tried Cruthfields website. I think that have all the dimensions for various cars/trucks and should beable to find it there. They also have a program that you type in your vehicle info and it will tell you what makes/models will fit.

Hope this helps

I put 6. 5" Polk components in all four doors. The rears fit just fine but I don't know the max depth. I second Crutchfield for checking fit.

Thanks guys. I looked at Crutchfield and they recommended 6. 5" all the way around. Just have to figure out how i am going to do the project as far as placement of other speakers. My ultimate goal is to seperate everything, woofers, midrange, tweeter and bass.

See a few pictures of my install here. Its nothing fancy but its clean, hidden and works well. The stereo pictures are about half way down. The placement of the rear tweeters may not be optimal but I didn't have much choice given what was behind the door pads. Some will say you don't need components in the back but I got two new sets real cheap on eBay so stuck them in. I really like how well the tweeters match with the black trim. Also there is a general rule on tweeter placement but I forgot what the numbers are. Its something like within two inches of the woofer or over seven inches. I could be wrong on the numbers but its something like that. I went with the wider placement as that worked the best. Anyway I know you didn't asked about tweeters, I was just explaining why mine are the way they are.

I was wondering about the tweeter placement glad you posted that. I did not know about putting them close to the woofer heck I was going to put them up high in each corner. My second idea is exactly what you did. All I need now is a place for the mid ranges.

I think you can put them farther away like you wanted too. I guess the main thing is that they are not within a specific window. In other words you should be able to put them anywhere over 7" or whatever that number is. Look at the later second gen trucks that have them clear up in the A-pillar. I'm not an expert so you might do some searches and see if you can find more detailed info on this. I can't remember where I read what I did now.
