Hi all, I need help i deciding which gearing to change my 01 2x4 quad to. Currently I have 354's and tow a 10 k Fifth wheel. It works great on the flats and slight inclines but i want more of an easy go at it in a steeper climb. I'm not to concerned with mpg loss, but i need info on 373's or 411's. I also have 4 heniated disc's in my lower back and cant do the work myself.

I live in the palm springs area and need to find the right person to do this switch. I will drive a few hundred miles to get this done if the price is right. I don't want to spend the $$$ on Gear vendors, ( cant afford it :{ ) Wish i could but disability does not allow it at this time.

Thanks for the input, Joe :D

Joe,

I think you're on the right track going between 411s - 354s. I'm not sure what's available though. And finding someone to do the work is a great idea too, I understand there's some special tools needed to do the swap - mainly a housing spreader to get the member out of the housing.

Keep us posted.

I have 4:10 With auto, and tow a 11K 5er. 63 MPH is 2000 RPM and it tow nicely. The only issue I would point out the towing much slower put you in 3rd turning up RPMs. Now with the DTT transmission, injectors and Comp in EZ, I do not go down to 3rd very offen. General feeling is the 4:10 and Auto had year was best for towing. Going to 3. 73 would not be worth the cost, and gain with stock truck would not be very noticeable. SNOKING
