Thought I had this locked in, but confusion over automatic trannies and rear end ratios on 93 D350 CTD trucks

Did all automatics that year have an OD? What rear ratios were offered?

Philip has a 93 automatic with a 518 and a 3:07 rear, did it come that way?

All 93s have OD, rear gears were 3. 54 or 4. 10. Phillips truck is a freak of nature. Don't try to find or expect to find another.

Don my truck is the only one I have ever heard of or seen with this combo. Dodge paper work doesn't show the 3:07's as a option after 91. 5 year model. Mine has a 12/92 build date. This was about 6 months before the body change to the 94's. I figure they had this set of axles laying around the assy factory and threw them in to get rid of them before the plant change over to the new body style.

Still trying to get it all straight. I called Chrysler to run a vin check on a truck I am considering, found it has a 3:54 rear end, with a 46RH transmission. I had been led to believe that in 93 they were all A518, in fact one I looked at had that on the hood tag. What gives? Which is better or worse? Help!

The 93's were supposed to get the 46rh but due production delays the 518 was the only one that was installed. :(

There have been reports of some late 93's having been made with the lockup setup. But no one on this site has one and I don't think anyone has seen one eather.

Straight off the Chrysler database, this VIN shows from the factory this 93 with a 46RH. Is that a lockup transmission?

Drive it and you can tell the difference. The OD slows the motor to a point but the lock up really drops the rpm. It is as much as another gear. If you have really found one, I would say that it is a rare bird.

Also, depending on your application for the truck, you could look around and find a 3. 07 or a front and rear set if you are fwd and get very good service from them. I have bough a set and plan to install them before the end of the summer. For my application, I believe they will be very desirable. I pull modest loads and return empty. I never have an off road chore so I can easily pull off with the automatic or with a Getrag. THe 3. 07 would allow me to run loaded without OD and on the return use the OD and boost my trip fuel mileage. Three dollar fuel is going to make all of us do whatever possible to improve our result.

You may be correct BGilbert, in trying to research this I often see the two listed with a slash, indicating that they are at least quite similar. I can't drive it to see, since it it is 1400 miles from me. I am thinking this might be another one of those ID's like the injector pump, the build sheet calls it a VP, yet everyone else calls it a VE.
