So I was driving home a week ago, and noticed the clutch was acting erratic. . As I grabbed a gear, I started to throttle into it, and then the RPM's shot up, and no power. . So I eased into the throttle, and was able to get a little power to the ground, enough to get into a parking lot... When I was stopped, and had a firm hold on the brakes, I let off the clutch. . That's when I heard some popping, clanking and grinding, then NOTHING... The driveshaft spins, and speedo registers, but no power to the ground. . I towed it with a chain about 5 miles down the road, and no problems with clanking or grinding, but still no speedometer registering. . Any ideas what this might be? I am thinking it's spider gears, but I am no expert. .

My $. 02 would be an axle shaft..... Could be a spider gear or axle splines, but I'd think more like a broke outer part of the shaft, out towards the flange. It didn't shear off the flange/hub bolts and spew oil all out the hub? If you have center cabs you may not can see it... ... I've seen several of those..... :D May or may not have been involved with making them happen... ...

Dont be afraid to pull the diff cover... . If you dont see anything, pull the shafts... shouldnt even have to pull the tires unless aftermarket wheels with caps that dont have to come off... .
