i would first like to say that all the family members and friends of those taken from us on sept. 11th are still in my thoughts and prayers... we will recover from this tragedy..... yesterday coming home from work i was rear-ended by a small madza mx-6 (?)..... he was tail-gating and when i and others stopped for a car ahead to make a left turn he plowed into me... . a pretty good lick and i could see it coming before it ever happened... well i got out of the truck with an attitude at the other driver of course... . a young man in his early 20's i'm guessing... his whole hood was rolled back up to the windshield, the radiator gushing fluid, both headlights and sidelights hanging by the wiring and both front quarter panels bowed... i could see all that as soon as i looked at his car... . i turned around to look at my truck's backside and saw absolutely nothing... . i took a closer second look from a few inches away and saw only two small pieces of red paint from his car on the 2" square hitch receiver... i was dumbfounded... . even the investigating officer could not believe it... his accident estimate for the madza was $4,800 and $0 for mine... the driver of the madza could not get his hood up far enough to look under it at the motor so the damage may be even worse for him... . i am still amazed... *one tough truck*... . take care guys and GOD BLESS AMERICA... ...

Glad to hear the you and the truck survived, looks like the other driver got what he deserved. Any M. V. summons issued to him ? If so, just more icing on his cake.

Similar situation while driving my dad's Toy 4x4 while in college. Coming up on a stop sign and there is a very attractive lady standing on the corner - of course I'm looking at her and so is the guy in the 280Z behind me. He was a little more engrossed than I was and didn't see me stop. The rec'r on the tube bumper left a very nice gash in his hood. I had a few flakes of paint on the bumper:)

When they hit a truck a high as ours it teaches them a good lesson about tailgating. The impact usually takes out vital components such as, injection units and electronic controls. You know the stuff that can make repair bills over $5000.

Glad no one was hurt.

When will they ever learn?

lol,, had the exact opposite happen to me.

If I remember right, this was on the 13th of Sept.

I was driving along in a 30MPH zone, and was folowing, at a good distance a liitle old compact car,, we were all passing a school, and the Janitors were outside putting up large flags, about 4x6 feet in size, well they must have had 15-20 flags hanging out at the school, and two of the janitors turned around and waved at me, cause I had flags on my truck, and I waved back, gave a smile, and loked ahead of me, and GOODNIGHT! The little car in front of me had hit his brakes good for the yellow light!

I locked 'em up, and was going to slide into him, I knew I was going to hit him, but also knew it wouldn't be hard at all, well, lucky me, I guess the squelling tires got his attention and he gave the car a quick burst of power and moved forward about 2 feet, and I completely missed him. WHEWWWW!!

I missed him, or he missed me, I'm not sure which way it went, but after I locked up my 245/75/16 michelins for the 5-6 feet my alignment was off. Went home that night, and took all of 2 hours to fix the pull to the left. (Wasn't the brakes, tires rolled freely)

dustoff,

Sounds like you were lucky but I would scrutinize that truck with a fine tooth comb non the less.

Most of the time when someone hits the back of a truck, they loose. I knew one guy with an F350 who didn't though. Thing sat pretty high so when this bozo nailed him, he went right under the bumper (no reciever) and moved the entire rear axle about two feet forward. I don't remember what kind of crapbox hit him but his bumper was laying on the guys dashboard.

LOL, no I wasn't.

There isn't any evidence either supporting, or disqualifieng, the fact that someone took that picture over my shoulder while I was driving.

<BG> :D

I had allready logged about 120miles of purely in city miles that day, and was a bit tired, and the flags, and memories didn't help my attention to driving any.

Had a 80's t-bird try to run over me from the rear. Didnt work. Cut a hole up their hood. Bent my exhaust tip. I didnt care. They were getting the car fixed due to deer by the ins co, and didnt need them denyin it. So we both drove off.

Seen a lifted Cheby the other day had what looked like 38s or 44s on it couldn't quite tell going to fast, but on his tailgate he had a sticker that said "Smile As You Go Under". :D :D :D :D

Looked like you could walk under that truck without ducking. I would have to get a running start just to get in it. :p

It's happened to me twice!

A white MX-6 or some such other "codenumber" Mazda r/e'ed my previous pickup ( a K1500) and, just like the first post, just some paint flecks on me, while requiring a tow for the other.

Then this summer, an F-150 lost to my Dodge... Did some $2K damage to mine, but totalled his... ... I'm gettin' a Reunel, I'm gettin' a Reunel,,,, nanner nanner naaaaaner! Allstate's payin/ I've got Met, nanner nanner nanner!

Rich M, Lets see some pictures of the runel when you get it installed. I to would like to get one but no one has rearended me yet. :)

my digital camera's become a P.O.S.!

... . but if you go to www.reunel.com and see the bumper one the white Dodge (upper left corner photo) on the first page that loads, That'n will be mine, except for black paint instead of shiny aluminum diamond plate. . should look more natural with the established colors of the truck... . I'll have the PIAA brand built in backup lites, the rec'r hitch (rated for 1500 tongue and 15K draw weight, or thereabouts)

BTW can a camera be "re-booted?"

dustoff- Good to hear no damage. I've heard and seen allot of simular reports in past years.

gitchesum- That's some Subaru catcher you got on the back.

I thought my K-5 Blazer was the coolest ride in town with 44's onit and 12" of lift. Then I broke my arm and no matter how I tried, I couldn't get in it. I tried getting a running start and do a belly buster in the seat, but that didn't work.

I found a plastic milk crate and cut a piece of rope and even that was barely enough to get me in it.

The last concrete section of our water well is about 3ft. off the ground. So I would just park beside of it to get in and out and leave the milk crate in the Blazer for getting in and out in town. People would give me the strangest looks.
