Rear fender liners standard now?

Yesterday an aftermarket parts vender claimed "they have never seen a Dodge without rear fender liners". Purchased my 2006 in December of 05 and it came without rear liners. Even though I had owned a Cummins since 98, my wife and I attended John Holmes' Diesel 101 class (wife learned more than she wanted to know). John urged all attendees to get the liners.



Are rear liners now standard? Are/were they supplied on certain models or specific model years after the 06 model?



** EDIT/UPDATE *** Stopped at the dealer this AM. 2009 models have a PARTIAL liner on the rear portion of the wheel well. I do not believe that my 2006 had the partial as I would have saved them (I never throw anything truck related away). Was there a time when there was NO liner/partial liner in the rear?

The rear wheel well liners were standard on all 2nd GEN RAM pickups.



They are optional (dealer installed) on all 3rd GEN RAM pickups.



I've had to have'em on both my 3rd GENs... . gives them a much more finished look.

A dealer that is on the ball can order them on the truck from the factory. I have seen a couple of Third Gens in my travels with the wheel liners listed out on the window sticker. I had to add them to my truck as my dealer does not fall into the "On the Ball" category. Mine only had the little rear 1/4 style on it new. I also had to go find the code for the flat floor option in the Quad Cabs so that he could get the folding platform as a factory option when he ordered that cab style... ... ... ... I try to help him. :-laf:-laf

When I got my 07 I had to have a friend in a body shop order them for me. Saved a bit over the dealer price so was worth it. After being in snow or mud it makes the clean up job a lot easier.

I took mine off my 99 and put them on my 2002 and then took them off the 02 and put them on my 2004. On the 02 and the 04 the holes were already factory drilled. I bought a set for a friend of mine through the parts dept and I think they were about $75. They are a great investment.

I had to put mine in too. They're difinitely worth it. Its a clean look and it keep things clean.

Any idea on how much liners cost for an 04. 5? I didn't know they were an option, obviously due to having a useless dealership. Any part numbers available?

82207367AB. That will be a kit that includes both L & R liners and the screws, clips and directions. As Pullya says, they are 65. 00 to 75. 00 last time I checked if the dealer gives you good pricing. Just looked on line quickly and saw pricing from 100. 00 to 125. 00. I can tell you that is worth every penny. Mine would chuck rocks from the rear tires into the back of the cab, what a noise. Also hard on the paint back there.

What year truck is that part number pertinent to? My 98. 5 could use some to keep the mud, etc. off of my air horns and compressor. Plus it would look better. .

That kit is for the 3rd Gen only as far as I know. Looked online and it seems that the

2nd gen liners are sold as each, L & R seem to be the same. Avondale Dodge online shows them for 48. 00 each but verify first as no illustration was available. I do think on my first two trucks (Both 2nd gen) that they were the same for either side but not 100% sure. My favorite parts guy at Dodge was going to double check for me when he gets a minute, might be a few days before I hear back. He did say that no kit showed up for the 2nd gen trucks.

Thanks for the info Mike. I found them online for about $85. I had them on my 97 and liked them but never thought about them for my 04. 5.

I put them on my 06 QC I just sold last week... ... And I just put a set on my new 06 Mega yesterday! $84 out the door from the dealership, They really do finish the rear up nicely. Installation takes about 8 minutes a side. Looks great with the OEM mopar flares. I notice less road noise as well while on the freeway.

I asked for them before I picked up my new '07 and was never charged. It doesn't hurt
to ask.
