I'm gonna be plowing with the 04. 5 this winter and considering a removable rear hitch mount winch or maybe fixed in the bed? Anyone done similar? Any suggestions?

I have a moveable winch in my work truck. I built a reciever in the bed and it stays there most the time, but I can move it to the front or rear recievers when needed.

I've got a fairly new Superwinch Epi 9K w/ 100' 3/8 synthetic and thimble along with a snatch block that I pulled off the Jeep I'm selling. I'm starting to wonder if the 9k is big enough to get me out of trouble, snatch block or not?

I have a Warn XD9000 on a basket with 100' of amsteel blue on it.

For now I only have the front wired as wire isn't cheap and I want to run 0 or 00 to the rear based on the run. But my jumper cables have the warn adapter in them so if I had to winch from the rear I could just put a battery in the bed to winch from.

I have had fixed and movable winches, and for 99% of the uses a movable is better.

For all season tires its hard to beat the BridgeStone Revo. If you are doing alot of plowing you might consider any snowtire with an E rating.

I would suggest something bigger then a 9,000 lb winch. Remember these units are rated on their first wrap with a streight on pull. If you are recovering rolling stock the 9k winch works well but if pulling something of any size that is up to it's axle in mud you got a problem. Just my 2 cents.

If I was buying new snow tires I would buy the Cooper Discoverer s/t, but I just got a smoking deal on new take off '08 wheels and BFG rugged terrain's. We'll see how they do. I've got chains if I have to.

Looks like the 9K winch might not be a factor as the buyer of my Jeep now wants the winch:rolleyes: Now I can buy a bigger winch:D

How does that work? Is it just for storage or can you use it from the bed? Any pictures?

It is wired in on the bed as well. I have used it to pull cables and other things around the job-site. I also use it to air-up tires(warn powerplant). It is mounted st the front of a 12ft flat-bed, but I do not have any pictures.
