Rear inner fender / fender well??

My dad just picked up a good deal on a new '09 2500 long bed crew cab. Nice truck alright, but it doesn't have any rear inner fender wells? The sheet metal is all exposed to mud and road grime etc. What's the deal here? Did Dodge forget to install them? There looks like there are mounting points in the fender. My '01 has them and I'm darn glad of it. My truck gets lots of crud up in there, but not up into the void between the bed walls were it would rust. I can't believe it if they stopped installing them on the newer models.



Anybody got an answer... ...

Mine and my friends 06 did not come with them either. We installed them ourselves.

None of the 3rd Gens come with them. It's been an extra-cost option since '03.

Thanks for the info. That seems silly, but what can you do. Anybody have a part number handy?? I think I'll get him a set.

Unfortunate that its an option now, trucks much better with them and you don't hear all the noise from gravel and dirt hitting the inside of the wheel wells.

LMC truck has them, and their is a Dodge Dealer in New York that will sell them to you also, cheaper then the dealer. I THINK it is dodgeparts.com.
