Rear Leaf Spring Bushings

I have a friend with a 91, 250, 4x4 and he is looking for rear leaf spring bushings. The couple shops he tried locally, including the Dodge dealer, said they are not available separately without the springs. That sure seems like a bunch of crap.



Does anybody know of a source to purchase some rear leaf spring bushings for this truck? And/or do you have a part number available?

I have not checked at all for this but just as a shot you might try a 4wheel drive shop. That's where I've always gotten my stuff in the past. Let us know if you find any, I might need some in the near future.

You might want to mention to him not to use poly bushings. Most $x$ shops try to push these off on people. They increase the ride roughness and transmit noice into the cab and drive train.

I get stuff like that from a local spring shop. I knon Davenport Spring will have them. Heck they had them for my 75 dodge on hand. But then this shop is in Davenport IA. Any shop that sells leaf springs should be able to get a hold of them.

Yeah, when looking for these myself, I went the 4x4 shop route, and all they have are catalogs for companies that don't make these in rubber or poly for our trucks. Dealer was no help either.

I would avoid the 4X4 shops for stuff like this. Need to find a company that repairs/builds leaf packs for trucks. Go into a company that repairs bus, dump truck, mid duty truck springs, they will be able to get these bushings for you.



The few 4X4 shops here in the midwest have nothing on the shelves,except some generic stuff, shocks, nerf bars etc. Then they say we can order whatever you want. Well I can order it for me too, I have about the same access they do, and other companies deliver to my door too!!

I was thinking the "THUD" from the rear of my D250 was the diff gears loading when I pull away from a stop light/sign. I'l thinking it's more spring bushing related. There is a bunch of rusty powder all around the bushing in the front spring eye. There must be something in there that's wearing as I shouldn't see a powder coming out from this, should I.



The thud is beginning to annoy me! I have to give her the fuel real easy like or I'll feel a sharp "Bang" in the rear of the truck. I don't think it's the diff cause it has no more play in the gears than any of my other vehicles, and it will do it even after I have begun to roll out from a dead stop with light throttle. If I hold the brakes on tight, just after stopping, and when starting to move again, it won't do it at all.



What an annoyance!!
