Do rear leaf springs go out? The other day I noticed that my driver's side overloads are making constant contact on the back end of the spring. The front of the spring does not touch. The passenger side does not touch at either end of the overload spring. I have built a raised bed in back, consiting of one sheet of plywood and three 2x12. This has always been in the bed of my truck. I wouldn't think this should cause a 3/4 ton to rest on the overloads. When I noticed this my fuel tank was empty, so the sides of the truck were evenly loaded. Is this a problem? Should I be looking into a new spring pack?

Thanks for the input

Yes, spring steel does fatigue. And the truck is never evenly loaded because the engine and transmission of the diesel are offset to the left about an inch. Then the battery was stuck on the left side. And the fuel tank. Plus the driver. That's why the left front spring sags and that will also load the left rear spring more than the right rear. You may just need to shim or replace front springs or you may also need to do something with the rear.
