Been looking for a locker for the rear axle in my truck, darn peg legs.... Looking for something like an Ezlocker or lockright. Any suggestions??

is your current diff open? if it is a limited slip, you are going to have to switch to on open carrier. I wonder if a lockright could take the torque anyways. I think there is a Detroit locker available.

Yeah,

stay away from both of those. They are junk!!

I just put a Dana Powr-Lok in the rear of my truck. While it is a limited slip, I can assure you, it's very limited! I can throw down twin black streaks and never a hint of "walking".

For a full on locker, I would go with a Detroit for automatic operation or an ARB if you want the compressor, ect.

I needed more than the open rear end and I am very happy with my choice. I did not want a "locker" due to the noise and drivetrain lash.

I have a forkin Open Diff... #@$%! Want something drivable yet works well thats not expensive... how bad did the dana set you back? My friend has an 01' HO thats FAAAR from stock thats in the market also... he to has an open diff.

I have a Dana 70 out back, so that may or may not make a difference on pricing.

You can expect to pay around $500 for a Powr-Lok which is stronger than the Trac-Lok commonly found in the rear of trucks.

My friends who have tried Detroit lockers in their tow/work trucks have removed them later. They did not like the way they handled. I was going to put one in my truck, but they advised against it. I would also suggest a Dana Powr-Lok. They're known to be tough and work well. It's mainly about what you use your truck for - if it's mostly off road, the Detroit is no doubt the best - bombproof, 100% traction. I have them in both axles in my Jeep, and can't find a thing to complain about, but it is off road only. :)

The Jeep will do this without spinning a tire.

I have the Detroit in my 2wd 3500. Couldn't be happier with it. A smooth driving style is key... . and knowign when to get in it and out of it helps. 40K with the detroit, and the tires are still doing fine.

I have Detroits in my CJ7 and in no way would I put them in a daily driver. Of course the short wheel base doesn't help but the Jeep can get real squirrely real easily ;)

There is no doubt in my mind that a LockRight can take the torque. I have absolutely abused one repeatedly and continuously for years with a 750hp nitrous class III mud drag (and street legal) Jeep, no issues, and drive home then to work in the same vehicle the next day.

With everything there is a trade off. In such a short wheelbase application, the understeer in corners under power can cause some rethinking, other than that, there is nothing short of a spool that will give better traction.

I think with the weight of my camper a detroit wouldn't be too bad. But, I have one in my jeep and you sure know its there. Wish I had the cash to do something to mine.
