So I thought I had a rear main leak. I was coming out between the engine and trans, near the bellhousing.

Turns out the leak was the TURBO drain return line. The two bolts holding the drain to the charger were loose-- one almost had fallen out!

So don't assume that you won't get a "travelling leak" on these things. Mine was riding the pan rail to the back and dropping off there. I have an inclined driveway.

Hope this helps someone.

Good advice Justin. My "rear main" leak was actaully the front seal of the transmission. I was right about one thing though, it was coming out of the bellhousing.

My "read main" leak was actually my oil pan gasket!

That is getting replaced today along with the fuel level sensor

(let me sit 77 miles from no where, got to love AAA) hehehehe

FYI I have seen one where the leak was actually coming from the soft plug that leads into the oil pan on the passenger side of the block. The guy actually replaced the pan gasket and the rear main and it still leaked. Finally found it at the plug with dye and a black light.

I just finished tracking down a leak. It ended up being the expansion plug for the passenger side dipstick tube location. It looked like the plug wasn't put in square from the factory, and just took this long for the leak to be noticeable. So far, no more leak.
