hi,

has anyone had both of their rear speakers fail at one time? they were working last month, then both stopped working. I don't remember cranking the radio either. There doesn't appear to be a fuse dedicated to individual speakers.

I'm not sure which stock stereo I have, but it has the 3 equalizer slide bars and the balance/fade joystick. both front speakers work fine. move the joystick to the rear and you get silence. I'm thinking somebody else blew the spearks or something. Plan to put new ones in the back to see what happens.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Seems odd that both speakers would go together. The infinity speakers are amplified on-speaker, so if you put in standard speakers they will work but will seem low in volume. Good for testing to see if you get any audio to the speaker, but not a good long term fix without another amp to drive them.

Check power at each speaker when you get them out. Could also be a connector between the dash unit and the speaker. Or maybe the rear channel on the head unit (unlikely).

ukmuk,

I had a left front and rear speaker go out. Took it to Sight & Sound on the old Seward Hyw. in Anchorage. They said the rear speaker is amplified by the front and if the front goes bad both go. They had me order a new front speaker from Dodge($135 from Mopar4less) and they installed it in about 10 min. All works well now.

It sounds like both of the amplifiers on your front speakers went bad which would kill your rear sound. ;)
