Would like to know if anyone has removed the spacers between the rear axle and spring on '04 truck. I have a '04 reg. cab, 2wd, auto and ho. . They look to be about 3/8 to 1/2 thick. I sure would like to drop th rear of the truck about 1/2 inch. I put a topper on the bed and would like a little more clearance when I enter the garage. I have the standard 8'x7' doors and it is tight.

Thanks

Spring Spacer Removal

On Sunday afternoon I removed one of the spacers under the spring. They are held in place with two bolts through the spring. After removing the rear wheel and the u-bolts I let the axle down enought to remove the bolts from the spring and remove one spacer. When I reinstalled the bolts through the spring I used a spacer washer before installing the nut so the bolt would have enought threads to the to secure the remaining spacer to the spring. Before I removed the bolts that hold the spacer I put 2 c-clamps on each side of the area where I was working to hold the spring together just in case it tried to separate. The first side took about and hour to get all the tools together and see what had to be done. The second side took about 30 minutes. As far as I can tell it dropped the bed down a little over 1/2'' which is what I needed. Everthing seemed to have plenty of room under the truck. I'll let everyone know if the there is any problem

I thought about doing that on my 4x4, I don't want to lift the front and cause steering problems, but I would like to have it level. I am already looking at having to do an axle flip on the fiver so I can tow it.
