Precision 295 is the number for autos. Precision 351 for 6spds. The 351's are SIGNIFICANTLY larger. The caps on the 351 are 3/16ths larger in dia than the 295's.
I put a 351 in yesterday and it fit "normal". Required some filing to remove burrs caused by removal and had to be pressed in with a vise, but that's "normal". Clean everything up good before re-assembly and everything will work fine. I had my brother help (actually he did almost all of it) because I've never done a u-joint before.
I'm not positive about the 295's fitting the auto's but the measurements we took and the measurements I got from the dealer were the same. Dad just had one replaced on his 03 auto the day before but we couldn't keep the old one for reference 'cause it had to be sent back for warranty.
The 295 is "heavy duty" and greaseable from the cap, WHICH SUCKS. Just one more unnecessary tool to go get. They take one of them metric zerks and their stupid "needle" type fitting.
The 351 is regular duty, but a HELLUVA lot bigger, greaseable from the body. I've never greased a u-joint from the caps and I've never had a problem greasing through the body.
The first u-joint I ever had replaced was on my '01. Factory joint went out completely at 32k. Replaced it with a greaseable joint (screw the warranty junk issue) and that one was still going strong when I sold the truck at 138K. This one on the '04. 5 has got just under 46K. We'll see how the Napa/Precision one holds out.
One more shot at you auto guys. The 295 looks like it should be in a 1500 when set next to the 351. Such a wimpy lookin' little thing. :-laf
I hope this info helps.
