Rear Underseat Storage?

I'm looking for storage solutions for under the rear seat. The stealership says the Mopar plastic skirting thing is on back order for at least a month. Any aftermarket solutions for rear storage?

I think "SteelHorse" makes something, but it was not as nice as the DC part. Might be worth the wait?

I bought one for my truck that I was going to purchase that didn't have one. Well, the deal didn't go through and I found another one that already had one in it. It was for an '01 model. I don't know if it will work for your truck. But, I am willing to sell it. If you are interested e-mail me and let me know. This is an orginal dodge one from the dealer. New!

My 2002 came with the rear under the seat storage. I took it out because my floor mats won't fit. It's yours free if you want it and pay for the shipping.

For the trucks that didn't come with the DC rear underseat storage the mount for the DC storage unit are not installed. The mounts are part of the back seat assy. I just bought an "02" without the storage and the "01" I was trading in had it. The stealer told me if I wanted to swap the assy out to go ahead but the couldn't do it since they would have to trade the seat and mount assy.



I did the swap it only took a few minutes with the right tools but just having the plastic storage piece will do no one any good unless they can manufacture a DC like mounting system.

Wcjp, We have to check on this before you have the underseat storage unit cluttering your garage.

The unit mounts to two L brackets that are part of the rear seat mounting assy. However, someone that has a MIG welder or is very good with the stick might be able to put something together for you. Find someone with the storage unit and copy the dimensions and they should be able to build it with no problems.

Too much wasted space........

I had some time on my hands one evening and made one in an hour and a half. Some cardboard templates and fine tuning and I have massive storage compared to the aftermarket ones. The angles were a little tricky. Just ran a couple of screws into the seat belt things to hold it in place. The seat actually holds it firmly when not open. If someone really needs me too I can do some measurements and E-mail them.



Heck, some scrap pine and a little black paint is way cheaper than what the little plastic ones cost.

EDIT: The only down fall would be no bottom if something spilled. But then you could also fit a large plastic box in there now.

Is your storage compartment like that of Big White Beast? That's what I was looking for. Sorry for any confusion. The Mopar version is about $189. I don't have any type of special brackets for my hinges.

Not having the factory brackets doesn't meen that you can't mount it... just need to fabricate a mount system from some 1/8th inch steel, weld them, and drill a few hole then taps them. Sounds hard but really ain't. If you know anybody that can weld they probably have some scrap sitting around that would work and with the seat out would only take a little while. A good saturday morning job. Then you can mow the grass and take care of the honey-do's.
